In the end we just setup CrashPlan under a service account for any shared computers and restore requests on shared computers had to go though the Service Desk to prevent end users from accessing another user’s data. Then marketing had to throw in a shared MacPro (the round model) for video production. This was perfect for 99.9% of systems and we were all in on endpoint backup and using it to protect data instead of redirecting things to the server. At the time CrashPlan PROE (as well as the other ChrashPlan products) were designed for 1:1 assignment. The only other complaint I had was multiuser systems. That was pretty typical for any software, but Code 42 has great documentation for SCCM and JAMF so it was easy to get things going. The one thing that wasn’t above average about the product was mass deployment. We had our own appliance and Code 42 would call us about any issues before we noticed them. It was so much better than our previous solution, the monitoring and alerts were superb. It’s been a few years, but when I ran CrashPlan ProE (as it was called at the time) it I absolutely loved it. No hesitation absolutely recommend the product here.
